Meet Principal Ferguson

Hello Coy Families!

My name is Andrea Ferguson, and I have the best job in the world: principal of Coy Middle School. If you’ve never spent time inside a middle school, here’s a little secret…it’s loud, it’s a little chaotic, it’s full of big feelings and bigger personalities, and we absolutely love every second of it. Middle school is messy and wonderful all at once, and at Coy, we don’t just survive that; we celebrate it.

Our hallways are full of energy, our staff genuinely adores these kids, and we work hard to make Coy feel like a place students want to be. We laugh a lot around here. We also believe in building confidence, teaching independence, and helping every single student figure out who they are during these big, in-between years. It’s not always neat and tidy, but neither is growing up, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Around Coy, we live by The Coy Way: Be Respectful. Be Responsible. Be Safe. Simple words that shape how we treat each other every day. This year, we’re embracing the theme “There’s No Place Like Coy,” and I can’t think of a better way to describe how our staff and students feel about this place. 

I get to do this work alongside an incredible leadership team, and the three of us are all in on building a school where kids feel known, supported, and proud of where they go to school. We’re backed by an amazing group of people who show up for students every single day:

At home, my husband and I are living our own version of organized chaos, raising three girls who keep us running from gym to gym and field to field. Our oldest is a Beavercreek High School grad now playing softball for The Ohio State University, our middle daughter is right here at Coy, and our youngest is a student at Trebein. Most weekends you’ll find us somewhere with bleachers, and any spare time after that goes to staying active and squeezing in a little travel.

Thank you for sharing your student with us. We promise to take great care of them, have a lot of fun along the way, and remind them often just how loved they are.
